20 Best Photography Locations in Multan

By Iqbal Photography ·

People assume you have to travel north for good photographs. You do not. Multan has heritage architecture, orchards, open water and light that is genuinely special in the last hour of the day. These are twenty locations we shoot at regularly, with the timing that actually works for each.

Heritage and Architecture

1. Shah Rukn-e-Alam

The most photographed structure in Multan and still the best. The scale of the dome and the colour of the brickwork at sunset are hard to beat. Go in the last hour of daylight and shoot from below to use the height. Dress modestly; this is an active shrine and it deserves respect.

2. Qasim Bagh Fort

Old walls, elevated ground and a view over the city. Excellent for couple portraits and cultural shoots. Best in late afternoon when the brick warms up. It is a public space, so expect other people around.

3. Bahauddin Zakariya Shrine

Beautiful tilework and quiet courtyards. Early morning is best, both for light and for the calm. Again, dress appropriately and be discreet.

4. Hussain Agahi Bazaar

For street and documentary work this is the richest place in the city. Narrow lanes, shopfronts, colour, movement. Morning light filtering into the lanes is the best time. Ask before photographing shopkeepers.

5. Multan Clock Tower area

Colonial architecture and an active street scene. Good for cultural and editorial shoots. Busy, so early morning is easier.

6. Old city walls and gates

Delhi Gate, Bohar Gate and the surrounding walls give texture and history. Late afternoon light on old brick is warm and rich.

Parks and Green Spaces

7. Company Bagh

Mature trees and open lawns, central and easy to reach. Good for family sessions. Mornings are quietest.

8. Shah Shams Park

Wide open space that works well for group and family photographs. Late afternoon.

9. Multan Public School grounds

Tree-lined and green, useful for graduation and formal group portraits. Permission required.

10. Cantt Board Park

Well maintained and quieter than the city parks. Access can be restricted, so check first.

Modern Multan

11. DHA Multan

Wide roads, clean modern architecture and tidy landscaping. Ideal for contemporary couple portraits and corporate work. Very good for drone coverage, being away from restricted airspace.

12. Multan Cantt roads

Long tree-lined avenues that look beautiful in the early morning haze. Note that photography is restricted near military installations, so stay well clear of those areas.

13. Bosan Road farmhouses

Private, green and completely controllable. The default choice for families who want privacy. Bookable by the hour.

14. Modern hotel lobbies and staircases

Useful for formal portraits and corporate headshots when the weather rules out shooting outdoors. Permission required.

Natural and Seasonal

15. Mango orchards

Between March and July, the orchards outside Multan are one of the best photographic settings in the region. Backlit through the leaves at sunset the light is extraordinary. Ask the owner first.

16. Chenab riverbank

Open water, big sky and long sunsets. Worth the drive for pre-wedding shoots. Go in winter; the mosquitoes in summer are serious.

17. Wheat and mustard fields

In season, yellow mustard fields around the city are spectacular. February and March. Always ask the farmer before walking in.

18. Sunflower fields

Short season but stunning while it lasts, usually in spring. Ask locally about which fields are in bloom.

Indoor and Controlled

19. Our studio, Gulgasht Colony

Full control of light, air conditioned, completely private, and unaffected by weather. The right choice in peak summer and for anyone who prefers not to shoot in public.

20. Marquees and banquet halls

Worth including because most wedding photography happens here. The good ones have high ceilings and light walls; the difficult ones have low dark ceilings and coloured stage lighting.

The Timing Rule That Applies Everywhere

None of these locations works at midday. Multan sun between 11am and 4pm is harsh, creates hard shadows under the eyes, and makes everyone squint. Shoot within two hours of sunrise or two hours before sunset and every one of these places looks better.

Permission and Practicalities

  • Shrines and religious sites: dress modestly, be discreet, avoid prayer times
  • Private land and orchards: always ask the owner
  • Military and Cantt areas: photography restricted, and drones are prohibited
  • Near Multan International Airport: drone flying is not permitted
  • Public parks: generally fine, but commercial shoots may need permission

We handle location permissions as part of planning any shoot. See recent work across these locations in the gallery, or read about pre-wedding sessions.
