Family Photography in Multan

Families in Multan have been coming to us for three decades. We have photographed children who are now bringing their own children in. That continuity is the part of this work we value most, and it is also why we take family sessions seriously rather than treating them as filler between weddings.

A family portrait is one of the few photographs that genuinely gains value over time. The one taken this year will matter far more in twenty years than it does today — especially the ones with grandparents in them.

Photographing Children Without the Battle

Anyone who has tried to get three children to look at a camera at the same time knows how it usually goes. The trick is not discipline, it is not fighting it. We let children move, play and be themselves, and we photograph around that instead of trying to freeze them into a pose.

Practically, this means we book family sessions for mid-morning rather than after school, when children are rested rather than tired and hungry. We also keep sessions short. Forty-five minutes of a child in a good mood produces far better photographs than two hours of a child who has had enough.

Multigenerational Portraits

If you have grandparents who are able to attend a session, do it this year. This is the single piece of advice we give most often, and the one families most often tell us afterwards they were glad they took.

These sessions need a bit of planning. We arrange seating so older family members are comfortable, keep the session short, and take the full group photograph first while everyone is fresh. After that we break into smaller combinations — grandparents with grandchildren, each family unit, the siblings together.

What Everyone Should Wear

Clothing is what makes or breaks a family photo, more than location or even lighting. The mistake is everyone wearing identical outfits, which looks stiff. The other mistake is everyone dressing independently, which looks chaotic.

• Pick two or three colours and have everyone choose within that range
• Keep tones in the same family — all warm or all cool, not both
• One person can wear a pattern; the rest should be solid
• Avoid large logos, slogans and cartoon characters
• Coordinate footwear too if the shot is full length
• Lay everything out together the night before to check it works

Best Time of Year in Multan

October to March is comfortable for outdoor family sessions. The light is softer, the temperature is manageable, and nobody is sweating through their clothes within ten minutes.

From May to August, outdoor shoots are only realistic just after sunrise. For summer bookings we usually recommend the studio, which is air conditioned and gives us full control of the light regardless of what the weather is doing.
